There's a point when you need to stop practicing J-turns, and you've passed that point when you mess up a wrist or two.

If it hurts while you look at pics of Jeniffer Lawrence then its probably time to give it a break son

Left hand

So, you were switching it up a bit?

Was riding my bike to a meeting when the front wheel decided it wanted to be 90 degrees in the wrong direction but the bars remained straight. Went over the bars and slammed down onto the ground. Amazingly my laptop was unharmed.

Can't argue with that one.

I just took a chunk of flesh out of my finger, courtesy of a beer bottle that broke when I went to open it.

For a scientific answer, try hitting it with a hammer. (anything 16oz or heavier should work) If you pass out, it's probably broken. If you went all macho and used the 4lb hand sledge, it is now. There, science!

Try jackin' it. If you feel better, you're fine. If you feel better and worse at the same time, take a few shots, and call it a day.

Are you ambesextrous?

So your headset loosened. You should keep an allen set in your saddle bag

I tightened it last week so that was a thing...

Maybe it failed?

Not too bad swelling wise, I got ice on it pretty quick and held it there. It was throbbing but that has stopped. Hopefully that lack of swelling means it isn't fractured. When the pain spikes I can feel it in my elbow which is weird. It hurts to do pretty much anything with my wrist except typing (all in the fingers). The pain is located on the left side of the wrist near/around the bumpy bone that sticks out (I'm an engineer... not a doctor. Don't judge).

Well the bike is a year older than my Trans Am... so that's certainly possible. My front rim is pretty bent because of the fall now so that's annoying. I'll need to find a cheap new one.

I'd replace the headset too. For safety of course
![]() 10/07/2014 at 01:36 |

Yeah... but I just taped the bars last week... I'll remove it and see what's up. The bike is a 1980 Huffy Aerowind - a POS roadbike that has some funky lines to it that was given to me for free that I plan on using for college duties in place of my Trek.

Its not that expensive to do, well for the headset. But considering you have original gear levers and brake levers, it may get to be because you'll need to replace those too. Its also Kind of annoying if you've never done it, but not too difficult. So, is your hand broken?
![]() 10/07/2014 at 01:41 |

My hand is fine. It's my wrist I'm concerned about. It hurts to move my wrist in pretty much any angle other than limited up and down movement. If it still hurts a bunch in the morning I'll probably see a doctor or something.

put your thumb and fore finger on your wrist like this and apply pressure:
Does the pain feel like it goes straight to the bone?
![]() 10/07/2014 at 08:16 |

There is certainly pain but I can get a worse pain by rotating the wrist like you would if you opened a door or something.

Sounds like its most likely a sprain. But dont quote me on that. Regardless if its sprained or broken, you should see a doctor. If it sprained you need a splint, if its broken you need a cast. You really should seek treatment. Is it swollen yet?
![]() 10/07/2014 at 08:25 |
|
Good! I don't have time for a cast! It really isn't too swollen which is weird
![]() 10/07/2014 at 08:28 |

That is weird. But seriously, see a doctor. I broke my foot and didnt seek treatment for 10 months. by that time it was half healed. My big toe is pointed at a 70 degree angle now, and I walk funny and ruin shoes. Trust me you'd regret it. My foot looks deformed, and when elevated and resting my big toe sits behind my index toe. I regret not seeing a doctor immediately.

Well I told my father to buy me a brace to hold the wrist stable (don't judge, I don't have time to do it myself)
![]() 10/07/2014 at 10:05 |

it was caught on camera too. right arround 1:00. hope its not broken

rims are expensive, I bet it would be cheaper to buy a craiglist bike and just take the parts off u need
![]() 10/07/2014 at 10:14 |

Probably... or "borrow" rims from a bike on campus that is left unlocked... (no I'm not going to do that)
![]() 10/07/2014 at 11:14 |

yea i had a bike stolen from campus, cut the chain. fuck those people.
![]() 10/07/2014 at 11:21 |

Wow they went through effort. People here put bikes in trees if they are left unlocked.

I managed to do something similar, but somehow managed to roll out of it. I ended up bending both wheels on a (damn) communist era Hungarian Schwinn so far out that neither could be trued, and broke 8 or so spokes on the front wheel.
